Hope everyone is fine and dandy! I’d like to share with you some new work I’ve been doing recently in time for the release of The Amazing Spiderman. After the wondeful response I had from my Junior Avengers Illustrations, I thought I’d carry on the theme of Junior Superheroes. So far I have had a lovely response again and a massive thank you to Geek Tyrant for featuring them again on their awesome site! Yay!

Today I’m sharing with you my most recent wedding invitation project that’s all done now but was quite a project! Its was great fun to do though but blimey my fingers were all cramped up after. I even subjected my poor boyfriend to a few hours of sticking individual teeny weeny gems on to each invitiation…all 200 of them! haha! Anyway, phew..all done now and I’m really please with the results as is the Bride I’d like to add. It was a lovely project with a wonderful colour scheme which allowed perfectly for some delicate design. Here’s the sketch beginning to take shape…

I really like working with letters but combining them with pattern so that it’s all as one or the pattern is inside the letters. I decided that fine lettering would be more suitable so I worked it into a delicate floral design. Obviously I made a perfect heart shape first with pencil and then filled it in. It got a bit tricky with the spaces getting smaller but I think it worked out well. Sometimes you eye can deceive you and your drawings get smaller and smaller with the space and then it looks weird! Haha. I tried to keep the overlapping to a minimum too but I found that overlapping a little helped draw out the names in the centre a little more. Also at this point, I’d completely forgotten about an ampersand! Eeek! But I managed to work that in digitally afterwards.

We decided on some lovely ivory card and I worked in some subtle pinks and browns finished off with some gorgeous little pink gem stones. Here’s some pics of the finished version… I’m hoping to start a range of invitations to sell on my Etsy store

Did I scare you? Sorry Just wanted to show you some new stuff I’ve been doodling lately. I’ve been doing a lot of random post-it doodling lately which seems to be excellent for getting ideas on to paper quickly. These new illustrations are based on those and I’ve developed them and worked them up to a nicer standard. I’ve added them to my Etsy store as greetings cards and also to my Society 6 shop as iphone cases and other products so please have a browse and leave a comment, I’d love to know what you think…

Well I apologize in advance for my ‘Eeeek’s’ and ‘Woohoo’s’ as I am just in a wonderful mood today and all excited and tingly all over! Not just because of the simple fact that I LOVE my job, but because there are some exciting things in the pipeline and also because I just booked a trip for me and my guy to go to Prague with some friends of ours! Yipeee! And, the best bit is! We’ll be flying on my 26th birthday! Lush! Ok, so it’s not untill October but I’m still MEGA excited! So here’s the first one.. WOOHOO! haha.

And so, on reflection of my upbeat mood, this weeks inspiration gallery takes a rather more humorous tone, which I’m sure, or I hope you’ll enjoy! So here goes…first things first… a baby who hates Helvetica of course!

Haha! next up are some amazing illustrations from one of my favourite illustrators J Scott Campbell that I found on i09. (freakin’ love i09). There’s also a book: Zombies in Love.  I love these illustrations and I love that they’re watercolours, my favourite medium. And they also made me giggle

Fabulous! Now, you all know by now how much I love my Geek Art and I found some amazing Batman Villain art created by Andrea Rhodes on Geek Tyrant. I love them!

Aren’t they gorgeous! Catwoman is my favourite! Last up is a bit more geekyness I’m afriad I love Battlestar Galactica and yesterday I came accross the characters in The Simpsons style. Haha! These are a selection of my favourites but you can see them all here.

I’ve been a busy bee this week creating some new card designs for my Etsy store. Sales have been picking up the last few weeks and so it’s spurred me on to create some fresh new designs to hopefully brighten up someones day. And there’s also the obvious fact that I love to draw, so really it’s not work! haha! So Jubilee weekend is over and it’s back to normal. This weeks been as busy as ever and I’m still working on a children’s book idea in between other things. Hopefully I’ll have something to show you all soon. Also if anyone has an advice of what to do when I’ve finished it I’d be glad to hear any as this is all new to me.

Anyhoo, here’s some lovely stuff I’ve come across from scouting about this week. I hope you enjoy and please leave a comment at the end if you’d be so kind

This first pic is AWESOME! It’s a Mixtape Table designed by Jeff Skerka. I would love to own this.. brilliant idea and look at the craftmanship that’s gone in to it! Phenomenal! Go here to see more images…

Next up is the work of a friend of mine, we used to work together  a few years ago and her work has just flourished. It’s truly wonderful and so current. She is known as Rozzi Bunny and I hope you love her stuff too. I especially love her illustration based on the ever popular Game of Thrones! Next up is a bit of a tribute to Disney. I have quite a collection of Disney films but I’m missing a couple and one of them is 101 Dalmatians made in 1961. I was thinking about how I need to own it and was trying to remember why I loved it some much and the answer was easy. The first part of the film is just beautiful, the illustration is totally what I love and more than that, the comparisons of the dogs and their “pets” (humans) told from Pongo’s point of view is just so simple but so wonderfully creative. The strokes of the pencil or the watercolor are right there on the screen to be seen and I love it! The outfits and the decoration of the houses are very elegant too. And the soundtrack is gorgeous (Spotify playlist here). I wish Disney still made movies like this where you could see the actual strokes and lines from the artist. Here’s a few snapshots from that part of the movie.. they’re just genius!

Lastly, I’d like to share with you some of my most favourite childhood memories. I say childhood, but actually it’s on-going. I have quite a collection of Pooh memorabilia, both original style and the Dinsey re-invention and I can’t get enough. My dad used to read the stories to me when I was little and we share a great love for A.A.Milne and E.H.Shepard both. I love the hand drawn style and these classic drawings just make me melt inside..

Pooh & friends have been the delight of children and adults alike for decades and unlike some other adaptations, I didn’t hate the Disney version “The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh” (1977). In fact I love it, mostly because it made more people aware of the stories and if you were a curious person like me, you went and found out where they came from. When I did find out, I  fell in love with the idea of Christopher Robin and his bear named Pooh!

My favourite has to be this illustrative map featuring at the beginning of the books. It’s heavily integrated into the opening credits of the Disney adaptation. I love it.

Although the geography was not revised, several captions were evidently changed. ‘Eeyores Gloomy Place’ was originally ‘Eeyores Pasture Land’ and the ‘Floody Place’ was originally captioned ‘Floods Might Happen Here’. Shepard also poses the question ‘What sort of House is Kangas?’ at the top of the map. The caption at the foot originally appeared as ‘Drawn by Me helped by Mr Shepard’ and shows a process of revision to ‘Drawn by Me and Mr Shepard helped’. It was printed as ‘Drawn by Me and Mr Shepard helpd’.” [Lot]

Just a quick post to share with you a new card & print designs now available on my Etsy store. It was inspired by a cute little web comic I saw online and I decided to re-create it in my own style. I thought it was quite a funny idea and I hope you like it too! It’s available as a print and a card on my Etsy store

Well it’s back to being miserable outside again so there’s been no great rush to be outside and therefore I’ve been working on some new stuff. I haven’t had time to create any new card designs for my Etsy shop for a while as I’ve been so busy, but this weekend I stocked it to the brim and I have over 70 items on sale now along with some Father’s Day cards, ready for this Sunday.

As ever I’m open for custom designs and also personalised version of the cards already on sale so please get in touch For the Welsh population, I also do a range of Welsh Language Cards such as the ‘Cariad’ card below. Which means ‘Love’ in Welsh.
